Care Information

General Care

Watering: 1-2 times per week. Sun: Place your azalea where it will receive bright but indirect light. Partial Sun/Shade Pruning: You can prune an azalea after they bloom. Also, the removal of dead or long slender stems can be done at any time.

Planting Guidelines

When planting your Azalea, select an area that receives partial shade/partial sun. Azaleas prefer slightly acidic soil. Did a hole slightly wider than the root ball. Azaleas like moist soil at the roots. Good drainage is best. Add a thin layer of mulch to keep moisture in the ground and keep weeds out.

Winter Care

Azalea winter care should start in fall. You can cut back the watering by about 1/3, to help prepare the plant for winter. Spread 2-5 inches of mulch (pine needles, wood chips, straw) to help prevent winter damage. When temperatures drop below 25 degrees F, cover your Azalea by driving stakes into the ground, then drape a porous material.

Potting & Container

When potting your Azalea look for acid-loving potting soil. Plant it in a container that provide ample space for the roots to grow. Make sure the container has drainage holes. Once planted in your container thoroughly water then cover topsoil with a layer of mulch to keep the soil moist. Place your potted Azalea in partial sun/partial shade location.
